Zignature® Zssential Formula for dogs is formulated to meet the nutritional levels established by the Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) Dog Food Nutrient Profiles for all life stages.

ANIMAL PROTEIN FIRST

Zignature® is designed using the nutritional Science backed by the Glycemic Index. Emerging research has hinted that protein may be able to satisfy hunger better than either fats or carbohydrates. Since most dogs are fed only once or twice daily, we want our canine companions to feel satisfied long after their meal.

When it comes to choosing a food, it is vitally important to choose a high protein formula, made with the best sources of protein. The first two ingredients in our gourmet recipe are formulated with animal proteins to ensure your canine protein requirements are properly fulfilled.

TROUT & SALMON

Omega 3, Vitamins and Minerals

Fish is a great source of many important nutrients and have also been found to help the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, such as swollen, tender joints and mobility.

Low Calories

Although trout is an oil rich food, it is low in fat and calories! 4 oz of trout contains only 183 calories, which is lower than beef or chicken, as well as many other fish. Incorporating trout into a dog’s diet is an excellent way to lower calorie consumption.

High in Protein

Salmon provides as much high-quality, complete protein per mouthful as chicken, ground beef, pork or tuna. This type of protein contains sufficient amounts of all the essential amino acids required for growth and maintenance of muscle tissue. High-quality proteins help maintain metabolism, which plays an integral role in weight loss.

NEW ZEALAND LAMB

Vitamin B

Lamb is a great source of vitamin B12 and also provides important amounts of the B vitamins B1, B2, B3, B6, Folate, Biotin, Pantothenic Acid and Choline. Vitamins B6, B12, Folate and Choline helps to maintain healthy metabolism.

Extra Omega 3 Fatty Acids

Lamb is seldom mentioned as a significant source of omega-3 fats, but can provide a valuable amount in the diet, at approximately 50% the amount provided by cod fish or tuna on an ounce-for-ounce basis. Lamb can also contain valuable amounts of CLA (conjugated linoleic acid), a cardio protective fatty acid. Lamb is a very good source of immunity-supportive Protein and Selenium. It is also a good source of heart-healthy Vitamin B12 and Niacin; blood sugar-balancing Zinc; and energy-producing Phosphorus.

AMERICAN TURKEY

Turkey is naturally low in fat, containing only 1 gram of fat per ounce of meat. Turkey a small amount of Folic Acid, and is a good source of Vitamins B, B1, B6, Zinc and Potassium. These nutrients have been found to keep blood cholesterol down, protect against cancer, heart disease, boost the immune system and assist in healing process.

High In Protein

Turkey meat has recently been shown to fall into a group of high-protein foods (including tuna and egg whites) that can help keep post-meal insulin levels within a desirable range.

Glycenic Index & Excessive Carbohydrates

Potatoes are much higher on the Glycemic Index compared to Legumes. Excessive carbohydrates may contribute to unwanted weight gain over the lifetime of your canine.

Grains & Gluten Free

Grains & excessive carbohydrates can be more difficult for dogs to digest because many plant-eating animals (known as herbivores) possess one powerful weapon many carnivores (like dogs) usually lack - Salivary Amylase.

Amylase is a special enzyme most herbivores and omnivores (like us humans) produce in their saliva. It is needed to begin the breakdown of starchy carbohydrates into simple sugars before they enter the stomach.

Dogs produce amylase further down the digestive tract in the small intestine. A carnivore’s saliva is mostly amylase-free which makes carbohydrates more difficult for canine to digest.

Gluten is what’s left over from certain grains (like wheat, corn or rice) that’s had all of its starchy carbohydrate (the good stuff) washed out of it. Glutens are less nutritionally complete than meat based proteins and is more difficult to digest than meat. Glutens can raise the protein reported on a food label. Therefore, manufacturers frequently add them to a recipe to make a product look better than it really is. High protein grain free formulas help increase energy, provide a healthier coat, clearer eyes, and strengthens muscle development.

CHICKEN & EGG-FREE

More dog owners are starting to recognize that their dog may be allergic to chicken or eggs. This is due to the overuse of chicken & egg in the pet food industry. Almost every pet food products now contains some sort of chicken protein or fat.

Chicken & Egg Allergies

Dogs allergic to chicken and/or eggs may experience changes in the appearance or texture of their coat & skin after consuming or being exposed to chicken. These skin changes may include hives, a rash, redness or skin inflammation.

Antibiotics / Soy-fed

Antibiotics are often given to chickens to promote growth and keep them healthy, as they are often kept in tight pens with one another. Soy is rich in protein and is an economical way to feed chickens cheaply, but it is not what these animals were bred to eat.

Gastrointestinal Upset

Nausea, stomach cramps, constant gas, diarrhea or vomiting may also occur as symptoms of a chicken allergy. These symptoms may occur within minutes or within hours of digesting chicken. Allergist can perform tests to confirm these symptoms.
